Default my 88 ezgo takes 5 to 15 seconds before it starts

hello , my 88 ezgo golf cart has a problem it will not start as soon you press the gas pedel it takes at lease 10 seconds to start and now it has started to back fire ???

carb sounds like its out of adjustment. throttle plate not closing all the way when you stop. 10 secs to start could also be leaky crank seals and or bad compression.

could be brushes in generator or possibly solenoid. when it does it bang the firewall where the solenoid is and see if it starts.
