Default EZ GO MPT Speed

I am looking for some help. I am relatively new to this site (great resource) and I have read many post about how to adjust the governor. From the photos posted by ruredy I found the spring however the rod thru the spring is not threaded on mine? It appears to be facotry sealed (wire tie) and I have tried tightening the nut but the entire rod and spring turn with the nut? I did place a pair of vice grips on the compressed spring and YES it did run faster, but I am looking for some advice on how to do this correctly. Thanks

Cut the wire tie off and use a 3/8 deep socket on the nut. Hold the shaft with some vice grips...
