Default Workhorse

Well here is the new project. I just picked it up last night and am planning on keeping it pretty much stock. Maybe when the old tires wear down I will get some new ones but it is going to be used around the farm. Maybe it will hit the trails sometime also. It needs a motor and clutches. I am not sure on the year but it has A59142 frame number and K2998 as a manufacturing code. I also need the electric dump mechanism. What do you guys think?

Do you have the engine, if not this is a good spot to start a big block conversion. Tom at CPP one of our sponsors can help you.

I do not have an engine yet. I have been looking around at some for sale here on the forum and ebay. It came stock with 11hp so high teens or the low 20s would be just fine. Used is fine but must run well thus why I am looking on ebay and here. My question is what size shaft should I be looking for to attach the clutch?

I think the stock clutch goes on a 30mm tapered shaft? Nubs will know for sure?

There are lots of alternative motors and clutches which will push that cart along just fine

I am looking at a few motors 16,18,23hp vanguards and a 20hp honda. They all have a 1 to 1 1/8in straight shafts. Since I do not have any clutches can I easily get a clutch working on the straight shafts? I am looking for an easy install.

Yes, clutches for straight shafts are easy to get.... check out the motor package at CPP ( http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php )

Yea I have seen those. Too much money at the moment. I am very mechanical inclined and can fabricate anything but I need this to be simple and reliable. Just getting more info on the motors I am looking at and clutches to go along with them. I assume everything else will be easy.
