Over steer 97 TXT
My 97 TXT has an ST front axle and occasionally when moving forward, if I turn too sharp, the tire on the inside of the turn will bind. Not like its hitting the frame but as if the steering is lose and allowing it to bind. Any suggestions for the likely culprit or is it just a byproduct of 25" X 12" X 10" tires. I can't see that anything is loose so I thought about fabricating some stops out of round stock to prevent the steering system from going all the way to lock.

Re: Over steer 97 TXT
If you have moved the front wheels forward and the steering box or rack is still in the same place you will run into this problem.
What you need to do is stop the outer tierod from crossing the straight line between the spindle kingpin and inner tierod when turning. You can do this with spindle stops but it might effect your turning radius, moving the steering box or rack forward, See if you can move the spindle steering arms closer to the tires if you are using wheel spacers. Check the diagram below to see if helps explain it. Notice the bottom right shows a locked wheel. |

Re: Over steer 97 TXT
It was like this when I got it. I will need to set it on jack stands to have a look. I will see i it can be moved forward or backward but I think if I move it back any at all I will have tire clearance issues. Thanks!

I'm surprised 25" tires work with an st axle with out some interference.

Re: Over steer 97 TXT
Are you sure you have the steering adjusted right? You have to adjust both sides equal amounts or it will always be wrong on one side at your farthest turnning point.

Re: Over steer 97 TXT
Are the tires hitting on the leaf springs? On a left turn, are they hitting the brake pedal arm? 25" wheels are too big for a standard lift without additional modifications...
