Default G9 ignition questions.

Is it possible to change this G9 ignition so that I can turn the key, start with the gas pedal and it will stay running? The engine on and engine off with the gas pedal is something I would prefer to eliminate..

Thanks gang

Not sure if I recall, but you can do it with a relay or two. The power goes to the key, then to the pedal switch, then to the ignition components. I think you can run a relay off the pedal switch to connect the key power (out of key to pedal) direct to the ignition, but then run another wire from engine ignition to the relay trigger the pedal wire is on. Once the relay is engaged it will not turn off because it will power itself. When you turn the key off everything quits, but test this before you use it lol. Make sure it idles the engine, or it will wear out the battery.

Problem is I don't know if that is entirely safe because once you hit the pedal off it goes. Better to just short the pedal switch so it runs anytime the key is on. Here kids hit the pedal all the time.

Another situation is the clutch engagement with it set up to idle. The stock Yamaha clutch doesn't have a "return to open" spring. If you set the belt loose to correct that, may not get the full clucth engagement at the higher rpms. Just a thought to pass along. I've asked this before about this question...why do you want it to idle?

Our first tow vehicle was a small off road buggy that had a brake, throttle, shift lever etc etc. Just liked being able to turn on an off when I wanted to.

The cart we have now likely just needs a bit of tuning and maintenance, the cart has no slow speed without jerking.
