G2 Primary Clutch Has No Oomph
Thanks for the hints & directions for the G2 Primary clutch replacement. Did it in place.
So I took it for a test drive, but it just does not nave the same top end as the clutch that failed. Any ideas to give it some more oomph? Prior to replacing the primary clutch, I upgraded the driven clutch, muffler and air filter yielding a top end of 25mph, now I only get 19 (downhill ) |

Re: G2 Primary Clutch Has No Oomph
Drive clutch increases its diameter with increasing RPM. Driven clutch does just the opposite. Assuming you did nothing to the driven clutch, then the new drive clutch is not increasing in diameter enough for you to reach your previous speed (maybe the new clutch sheaves don't press together as far as the original). Watch the clutch articulation while running the cart in neutral (belt should be near the top of the drive clutch at max. RPM). Did you grease the new clutch after installing it?? Take the belt and cover off and manually press the sheaves together and see how close together they get (compare that space with your belt width). At the same time check for any binding (should be smooth). Weights in the new clutch may be lighter. Just some ideas!! Good luck - RAY
