G16 needs paint
My cart is in bad need of a paint job but I really can't afford the ridiculous prices I'm being quoted at the local body shops. I've actually been considering a Krylon job.....do any of you have any personal recommendations?

Re: G16 needs paint
Use adhesion promoter and make sure your primers and topcoat are compatible.

Re: G16 needs paint
sirgknight there is a forum on BGW called "Body and Paint" that is full of good threads with info for painting a cart. I would not have been able to paint mine without the help from the members of that fourm and I can‘t thank them enough.

Re: G16 needs paint
very interested reading on the body and paint sub-forum. the herculiner application in very unique....I noticed it comes in white color. just curious here....I'm sure everyone is familiar with the paint color reader that most paint stores have (including wallyworld)...you take a sample of the color you want and the machine reads it, then gives a pigment formula to make the paint turn that color. the pigments are always added to a gallon of "white" paint. would it be possible to add pigments to a gallon of "white" herculiner and have the herculiner in virtually any color we desire?

Re: G16 needs paint
I went to Tractor supply and bought a few spray cans of kabota orange. Works just fine and it looks cool. Check my profile. The cart I own is shown there.

Re: G16 needs paint
I usually go to autozone and get Rustoleum plastic primer and a couple coats of Rustoleum enamel paint. I've had several painted for going on 5 years and no flakes or chips. Still polishes out just fine and I haven't added clear coat to any of them that way it is easier to touch up. Haven't needed to touch up any. And I take them out wheelin quite a lot.

Re: G16 needs paint
well, I've decided to tape the cart rather than dismantle it. I would have to remove the top, remove the flip-flop seat, remove the trailer hitch and all of the trim, etc. It just isn't worth that trouble to me, and I'm not paying $400-600 for a paint shop to do it. If I were using the cart for a show piece it would be different, but it is used strictly for pleasure riding in the woods, brush, hillsides, dirt roads, fire breaks, etc. A canned paint of some sort is what I will use; it's just a matter of what color and then decide what brand has that color. Oh well.......
