When I first got mine running, it smelled like that mexican gas smell. it took about 3 or so tanks of gas to get that smell burned out of the muffler. All the while running better and better the more fuel I ran through it. These things love ta run, so use it as much as you can.

If reluctant to tear down the carb try some sea foam in the gas.
