Default 1995 Yamaha Gas Golf Cart needs to be choked

I have a 1995 Yamaha Gas golf cart that starts stalling and needs to be choked when it gets hot, after about 30 minutes of driving. Extended the tail pipe to the side so it wouldn't get so hot under the motor. After doing that and taking it for a test drive it would backfire and again have to be choked even though it wasn't hot.

Need to check and clean your whole fuel system.
Tank, pick up tube, fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel pump, whole carb, air filter box must be sealed properly.
Check tank vent, pulse line from block to pump.
If you find trash in fuel tank then check gas can you fill it with.
So many people just clean carb and have it foul two months later again.

Thank you for your reply. Will certainly do what you suggested.

Put in new spark plug, re reouted exhaust out the side and put in SeaFoam gas additive. Been running fine. Would still like to replace the fuel filter which I believe is in the tank but I don't know how to remove the tank to get to the filter. Any suggestions?

No filter on the end of the pick up tube, some may have a strainer but no filter.
There should be an inline filter between the tank and fuel pump. If not, need to install one. Pick up one from any Auto parts store that will hook up to 1/4 fuel line.
