Default Is this what a new ball joint is suppose to look like?

Just received an order for replacement ball joints for my DS and this is how they came. Is the rubber boot suppose to be loose like that? I assumed it would be secured to the housing better. Perhaps a groove around the perimeter housing that the boot would seat in. The only reason I bought the new ball joints is because the boots on the current ball joints are quite "relaxed" and aren't tight around the housing.

I imagine the boot will be snugged up to the housing once installed. But the seal doesn't seem adequate. Well, I guess its just a golf cart.

Any one? Is this how they are suppose to be? That's not how they looked in the picture on the stores website. Thanks

Once you bolt them down they should seal up pretty decent.

I ended up installing them. When tightened in place the boot did snug up to the housing but not, in my estimation, tight enough to seal out moisture and dirt. They should really have a better seal. As I said before, it's only a golf cart so I guess not big deal.

Still, had i know I wouldn't have replaced the ones on the cart. Only the seal was bad on them.

I wish I would have known to do that. I just assume that golf carts would be completely different than cars. I could have saved a few $ and saved some time.

I have tie rod ends just like those with the flat boots on my cart, and I hate them!! The stupid things won't take grease no matter what I do! The fitting isnt plugged at all, and the things are brand new, they just won't allow you to pump any grease in!

Crash- How did you find the right boot at the auto parts store? Take in some dimensions or take in the part for them to match up? Thanks
