Yamaha Drive Backfire
I have a couple month old 2008 Yamaha drive, which really is a great cart. It runs great, but I run it through a neighborhood, where I constantly have to stop for people and traffic. If I am cruising and I hit the brake and then the gas while it is still coasting it backfires. It only does this though when i hit the brake, let off, but still coast, and before it comes to a complete stop hit the gas again, and most of the time I will hear it backfire. I have tinkered with the govenor because I thought it was out to far, but it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Re: Yamaha Drive Backfire
Cart should still be under warranty ,I would take it back and tell them. But sounds like the carb is not closing all the way after letting of the gas. Are you keeping your foot on the accelerator while braking ?

Re: Yamaha Drive Backfire
No, the only correct way to drive is to use one foot only, that's the best way and what I do so that wouldn't happen.

Re: Yamaha Drive Backfire
Sounds like carb is not closing , take back to dealer and they can adjust it.

Re: Yamaha Drive Backfire
mine did that too and it was because of the mixture being improperly adjusted. (too rich)

Re: Yamaha Drive Backfire
I only put unleaded gasoline in it. What should I do, since I do not add anything to the gas in order to make it less rich?
