![]() Looking to build myself a custom gas cart...
Really wish they made a kit for a precedent, i guess the ds will have to do, because im def not interested in the ugly older ezgo txts, and the yamaha lit says not to lift the cart, so looks like a custom built ds is the answer. Question is for those who are using this, what setups are you guys running and what kinda performance are you guys getting from it? |

![]() I have done this to my 96 DS. Kit was super easy to install and the instructions called out almost everything. Small modifications were required, like clearancing the cart frame rail so the exhaust wouldn't hit, and extending some wiring that comes on the engine, adding a main jet adjustment to the carburetor and a fuel return line to the fuel tank. I love it so far, and along with the big block kit I installed high speed gears. On 20" tires I topped out at 40mph and 4000 rpm. If performance upgrades are ever offered for the 23HP kit I would like to get it up to 5000 rpm, but probably wouldn't take it much further than that. Its been a lot of fun to drive actually. Tuning the carb probably took the longest, only because of the test drives in between. Idles at a steady 1300 rpm and after tuning there is no hesitation or spots in the RPM where the engine bogs.

![]() Thats pretty awesome. But, im suprised its linited to 4k rpm. Is that manually adjustable or do you need more parts for that?.also which gears did you get, 8:1 or 6:1 and hows the torque with them?
Got any pics? |

![]() The 4K rpm limit is how it comes from VC. Would probably need to beef up the valvetrain and connecting rod in order to safely turn more RPM. I went with the 8:1 gears and with the BB, you can't even tell they are high speed gears.
