I am trying to buy a golf cart that can be made street legal

Hi all! I am in the market for a golf cart in Tennessee (Nashville area). I liked a cart that was at a dealer, but he told me that it doesn't have a title, so I wouldn't be able to register it. Then I read that you can apply for a VIN as long as you have the bill of sale. So why would he say that that cart could never be tagged and made street legal? I'm so confused....

I've seen a few for sale that aren't street legal and don't have titles. I thought that meant they could never be registered as street legal. Was I incorrect, and they can be? That would definitely open up my search! (I know they need to go fast enough, have seatbelts, lights, mirrors, etc).

Please help!

It can be done but it is a big hassle... Here is some info that can help you figure out if its worth it to you.
