ezgo textron charger question

when i go to plug my cart in the charger turns on then turns off. its not charging does anybody know the problem, the cart is in the 80s thank you kris

Problem may be in the receptacle connection. Try holding the plug off to one side or the other to see if the charger stay on... you may just need to use a small file to clean up the contacts or they may need replacing.

ok when i did that it stayed on a few seconds longer but still shut off, and the neg, looks clean were you can see it scratches it the pos. looks dark thanks

ok when i just went back out there to mess with the charger it was on and working, i dont get it, so the charger turns on when it want or is that not good.

Sounds like you need to clean up all your connections... at the receptacle and the battery leads.

I had a similar problem with my 1994 36 volt charger. It came on for about 30 seconds. Then shut off. I ordered a new control board from Ebay, put it in and it works like a charm. The one I found was only $50.

The charger senses the battery pack voltage via the AUX. Contact in the charger plug. If the Aux, contact in the charger plug doesn't make good contact (loose or dirty) with the outside of the negative Radsok in the cart's charger receptacle, the charger either doesn't turn on, or does weird things.
