![]() i want to add lights to my club car 48v, so which voltage converter do I choose? there's many different kinds on ebay at many different prices, and I've read to use one rated at 20 amps, so I guess i just need to find one that converts 48 to 12v (at least 20 A)? i'm not an electrical guy btw, how aboout this one on ebay "Vicor VI-JN1-CX DC-DC Converter 48V to 12V 75W " for $88?
sorry if I'm asking the same questions billy |

![]() Billy don't confuse watts with amps. 20 amp minimum is right. I like this one but, there are many - all about the same? watch the ampere rating!

![]() if your gonna just add lights you don,t need to worry about amps, the ones rated for 15 amps 20 or 25 are for if your gonna put a radio in or CD player things like that.......for lights the one they make for C.C. that bolts to the inner frame rail and connects to the controller is a great reducer..........cost 80 to 100 dollars i think but its simple to install and very easy to understand......if your gonna be adding other things than i would with a minimum of one rated for 15 amps that should be enough.................

![]() I agreed with bill-e-boy on the 20 amp converter because you never know where the add-ons will quit. This year lights and next summer a radio and cel phone charger with gps and who knows what else? So I hate when I spend 80 dollars for the minimum thing and then need more which would have only been 20 more originally but now its $100

![]() also when looking at voltage converters pay attention to the type of converter. Some of them are just a rinky dinky resistor setup in a small heatsink block. Then some of them are the much better electronic ones, like the one in the link above, alow you to go from 24-48v some even go more then that. And are much more durable in the long run. Plus some of them have an internal isolator system in them that pervents controller noize from the cart effecting your radio when driving. Ive used the voltage converter shown above in many carts, and it works great ![]() Last edited by Monsterezgokid; 08-13-2008 at 07:01 PM.. Reason: typo. woops |

this would be for lights and future additional radio if that link does not work, here is the title " 48 TO 12 VOLT GOLF CART VOLTAGE REDUCER 20 AMP " priced at $69.50 |
