Default just aquired 2 carry all club cars

these cars were given to me not knowing if they run or not. after 3 hrs on both cars got them running. both have hyd lifters so I'm guessing they are fe350s. i'm not sure of year models. at first they run great but now one has a knock to it. i feel that the lifters are not pumping up causing this. i don't know when the oil was changed last. checked it and seems a little thin to me. could the thin oil cause this? if so what type oil is run in these engines? also every now and then it will bog down and have to choke it to pick back up. with the lifter not pumped up will this cause this? am i on to something here?

I think the Club car service manual calls for 30wt oil.....

Other weights are said to be OK....I use 0W30wt Mobile ONE

See this post for the techniques to change the oil....

changed oil and filter; oil smelled like gas, found some blockage in fuel lines. after about 10 - 15 mins of letting it idle the knocking went away. so we rode it around the yard about another 30 or so mins. then smoke started rolling from underneath. oil was all over the engine and compartment. look like the oil came from the left side of engine. oh well, i think this engine is shot. lol maybe I'll change it over to a big block or use it for parts for other cart.with the pocket book a little light here after Xmas, if i change it over, i'll have to want a few months or so.

i knew that sounded like the problem

and i had same problem with the oil spewing try replacing the tube going from the valve cover to intake

and figure out where oil is coming from

you said it was coming from the left side so make sure the dipstick is in tight

and check that tube from the valve cover if it is blocked it will build up oil pressure causing dipstick to come loose and spew oil

i have had it happen a few times

the oil is coming from the flywheel side. after doing some research i think the oil pump is behind the flywheel and maybe that's where the oil is coming from. because of work schedule, I'll wait till this weekend to pinpoint exactly where the oil is coming from and go from there. also reading the service manual it illustrates there is a oil pressure relief valve in front of engine that i should trouble shoot also. will do some more reading on this during the week

Are you going to part out either one? I'd like to have a Carry all bumper.
