2000 gas DS not charging battery
My buddy has a 2000 gas DS and it just quit charging the battery. How can I tell if its the Starter/generator or the voltage regulator?

Generally it's VR but to make sure Ground the green wire coming out of starter generator to battery start the cart in nuetral send rev it up to wide open with meter set to DC directly on battery if starter generator is good should read around 17ish volts this will indicate bad vr if it stays around 12v it's your starter generator.... If VR is bad I highly recommend OEM replacement aftermarket ones are hit and miss

I took off yellow wire on starter/generator and put a jumper wire from the post to ground (A2) while the cart was started. I had 17 volts at the battery. So a bad voltage regulator. I did pull the starter/generator and took it apart to clean it out and check the brushes. They are about half warn down.

Sounds correct my mistake on the yellow wire I was thinking of Yamaha they use a green sorry about that
