New bushings and now steering is tight?
Hello, I just recently replaced all the front end bushings, a kingpin (one was real pitted) and the 3 ball joints. The steering before was real sloppy and with the low profile tires, you could barely hold onto the steering wheel going down gravel driveway. So now, the steering is super tight...like my old 66 F100 on flat tires tight!! I ran it up and down the road thinking it just needs broke in but wanted to ask you experts if I did something wrong or is there anything I can try to loosen it up. Thanks! Kim

You did grease everything, right? you might try loosening the nuts on top of the kingpins too, just in case those spacer/washers got pinched.

I did grease king pins. I even backed the nuts off loose while it was still on jacks and it’s the same. The bushings I sprayed triflow on which is a silicon lube

I believe the bushings are supposed to be reamed to the proper size for the kingpins.

Re: New bushings and now steering is tight?
We got it loosened up but not the proper way as we only have limited tools to work with. And now that I know the bushings need reamed out, I might have to replace a kingpin down the road. Thank you again for all your help! Now off to fight the FNR handle so I can take the rest of the body off....and right now it's not looking hopeful
