86 Marathon - Newbie
Hey gang, I just picked up this little bugger. Cool as heck but I'm sure having a hard time to find any info or part numbers. I have other electric golf carts but this is my first gas one. I believe this is a 2pg motor? Does anyone make a conversion kit to slap in a bigger motor and maybe swap out rear end to keep revers?
I'm also having a fairly good leak coming out of the rear pinion from what I can tell. At first I thought it was just way overfilled but after pulling the plug and bringing the level to the plug height. It still leaks when secondary clutch is spinning. Ideas where I could find the replacement seal or the part #? Thanks for any help someone can offer.... https://imgur.com/a/fYYVQx7 |

Re: 86 Marathon - Newbie
This is just an opinion but to me, they are designed around a Robin two stroke engine so once you change that out, you are welcoming a myriad of other headaches. I know a lot of people do it with success but I also see a LOT of guys trying to sell their gutted up messes on MP for a song because they have nothing but problems and want someone else to have them for awhile.
A BGW sponsor will likely have the seal you are looking for. They may be found here/ https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php Someone has put a lot of work into that Marathon. Im sure its a head turner. Welcome to BGW. |

Well now, that's different. I like it....... I had to change out the diff seal on mine a few years ago, had to buy a puller that didn't fit very well but I was able to get it out. Thanks for the pics and Good Luck..

Thanks for the advice and link. Will probably start with a new seal and go from there.

Dabble, thanks. I was able to get the drive clutch and will try pulling the old seal out tomorrow when the new one comes in.
