2005 clubcar Turf 1 surging
Having a problem with my 2005 clubcar surging. The engine seems to run fine. It feels like getting bumped from behind by another cart. I notice it more when going down a slight grade and feeding it a little gas. My first thought was a worn drive belt but comparing width of old belt to a new one and they are the same. It also climbs a hill fine. Second thought was one of the clutches sticking as it changes diameter then releasing causing a surge. Is there a way to check the function of the clutches? Any thoughts on a cause?

Re: 2005 clubcar Turf 1 surging
A sticking clutch would probably be most likely.
The primary clutch is most common to wear since it has more moving parts inside. But usually it will get stuck open, or somewhere around halfway and will not close all the way. The secondary clutch can get stuck in the fully open position if the buttons or the helix are worn excessively. The helix can get stuck on the screws that hold the buttons to the clutch. If it's worn out that bad it makes it very difficult to rebuild. |

Thanks for the replies. I'm leaning more to the clutch as well. Are there any publications or videos available on testing and rebuilding the clutches or how they should work?
