94 ezgo marathon needs speed
Just purchased 1994 marathon Ezgo- looks great (almost like new- was garage kept) but just has no speed- and slows way down going up slight hills has all original parts- 36v dc 2hp motor 5bc48jbb833 motor, 204 controller- dont want to spend alot- also it is not lifted on only 2 person- any suggestions.

Re: 94 ezgo marathon needs speed
I have a 91 Marathon and started out in the same place you are. To be honest if I had it to do over again I would have upgraded everything to 48v because at this point I have basically a new machine anyway. It seems with these carts one upgrade leads to another!
But if you want more speed and dont want to spend any more than you have to the only way is a new motor. I went with EMP, they can rework your current motor and the cost is a little less than buying a brand new one. They have a two speed option that is great and will let you switch between speed and torque. Your best bet for adding more climbing power would be to uprgrade to a 400 amp controller though. |

Re: 94 ezgo marathon needs speed
thanks for the info- is yours a lifted cart- I was thinking of lifting it and maybe later adding a 2nd seat- not sure- It was just so clean I feel that I could not loose on it

Re: 94 ezgo marathon needs speed
Yes I lifted mine. I use for a hunting buggy and it works great. I've been very pleased with it overall. Mine was very clean and garage kept also. I would recommend lubing all the steering joints, wheel bearings and maybe change out the rear end fluid. Even if it was well kept your average person doesn't do those things.
