To follow up on my last questions . . .

When I worked with a fleet of CCs, we filled cells individually with a hose-end filler. It was problematic, often not shutting off until the cells were overfilled.

The fleet of EZ GO RXVs I am now working with came with auto-fill systems, which have also been problematic. The floats did not work properly and the indicators would give false readings of both full and low. As a result, some cells went dry.

The floats were replaced by shorter ones, but they still are not reliable. They seem to get stuck in their sleeves, so that shaking the cart while filling help. They only way to be sure of proper levels is to pop off all the caps, which defeats the purpose of auto-fill systems.

One of the keys to both systems was to have very low water pressure . . . to fill slowly. When you do a bunch, and often, you get a feel for if it filled right.

Supposedly the water with the CCs was filltered and with the EZ Go's, tap water, out the same faucet we wash carts with.

I have ruined many pairs of pants, shorts and shirts filling batteries. It may sound unnecessary, but wear protective clothing and eyewear when servicing batteries. Disposable plastic gloves like food handlers use are nice, too. It is my experience that golf courses do not seem to provide for protective gear.
