Im coming from the SxS world. I sold my AC Prowler XTZ with 71hp. So im feeling a little lost without all that power. i love the compact feel of the GC and the quietness. I dotn expect it to be a sxs but i need more oomph.

If i just upgrade controller say to 500 amp will i have to upgrade anythign else? Switch? Wires?

The kind of torque your looking for I would suggest a 650 or 700 amp controller and yes it would be very wise to upgrade your f& r switch, ALL cabling and install a 400 amp continuous 1000 amp peak solenoid ..

OK reviving this... Anyone you have any videos or can you take some of your high HP electric cart throwing some roost for me?

All I can find on youtube is ppl fooling around with stock carts on the golf course or crazy big engine carts...

If want to smoke the tires you are gonna have to go big. I have 500 amps (on highest settings), PQ Executioner, 2 AWG cables and it's fast, but will not burn rubber. It pushes you to the seat back, but that's it. Like the others said, 700 amps and call around. I bet tire selection/rear gears has a lot to do with it as well.

Let us know what you find out.

+1... I had a precedent with 700a alltrax and d&d motor that would throw a rooster tail. I doubt a 500a would gain you that much mor then what your running now but I would call d&d and they will set you up.

Ps. I have a video in video section titled sparky wheelie. That wheelie is on pavement without using reverse at all. Just stab the gas and it lifts the front end.. Even with 23s it will spin in grass sand or gravel..650 alltrax and a custom d&d motor

Call D&D before 9am EST, ask to speak to an engineer. Tell him what type of cart you have, what you expect out of the cart as far as torque and top speed, and what type of controller you're thinking about going to. He will point you in the right direction.
I think personally, you should just upgrade your cables/controller/solenoid FIRST. Then if you aren't satisfied you can move on to the motor since the surrounding components will already be able to handle it.

I have a 97 EZ TXT 36v that I upgraded to 48v, and a new controller, and cables.. but still running the 36v motor. I'm pretty happy with it for my expectations. Here is a link to my thread, maybe it will help you out. Keep in mind this is for an EZGO.
I can spin the tires from a stop, but it will not throw a "rooster tail" by any means. Definitely a huge increase in available torque. Being able to program the throttle curves is a nice addition.
