Default Back from the dead - '86 CC DS

This is what $100 gets for a fixer upper cart a couple weeks ago.

I would take that cart for $100.00. It looks like it might be quite a project, but I like these old carts!

All electrical solenoids (five of them!), switches (lots of them too) and motor worked in a garage test on jackstands. I upgraded all wiring to 4 gauge (crimped and soldered), sanded and painted the body, rebuilt and recovered all seats (new plywood and vinyl), added a good set of batteries and went for a test drive today.

I topped out at 15mph after a bit straight and level. Tomorrow is a range check using my calibrated bicycle speedometer/odometer.

Pictures will be uploaded tomorrow morning. I'm tired and need a beer.

These are the kind of carts I think are awesome and a lot of fun to rebuild and upgrade. I've been thinking of finding another fixer upper and doing it again. I had a great time doing it and just enjoy knowing it was all from the hard work I put into it. My wife is sitting here telling me to do it again..
Time to start shopping around for an old DS.

Cool, I like it.

I'm also rebuilding a 1986 Club Car, but it's been converted over to a controller system because I got tired of constantly fixing the electrics on it.

BTW, the rear flares on my cart stick out further than on the 90's DS carts I have. If yours are the same way and you decide to lift your cart and put extended fender flares on it at a later date, you might have to trim the flares on the cart down to get them to fit.

Finished pictures. Not professional but WAY better then it was. Going to advertise and sell it to but a newer cart to really customize.

It looks great!

What color is that, and did you use spray cans?

Spray cans from Walmart. Krylon Dual (paint + primer), color is banner red. They lie about the primer part, you still need to prime. I was disappointed a bit but it turned out pretty good. Pictures always look better then real life.

Link for the paint.
