Default 1982 Club Car very slow no power

Hay guys, My 1982 club car all of a sudden is real slow...You can hit the peddle from a stand still and it takes off slow and runs about 2 mph....Tested all batteries with load and gravity tester...all show good..6.2+ I removed and cleaned all battery cables...When jacked up it runs through all solenoids correctly and has normal speeds...When you put it back on the ground it hardly moves....Did a normal check off all the other wires and they seem good. Resisters look ok and are intact.

Thanks
Bill

Connect a voltmeter across the battery pack, drive the cart and see what voltage you have. Also feel all the connections on your high current cables after you drive a little. Careful, they can get really hot if there is a bad connection!

OK..Connect voltmeter to pack...have 37.4 volts...once I take off it drops to about 33.4....It only has one speed....which is 2-3 miles an hour....It has NO force taking off...It don't jump when floored. Drove a few hundred yards and felt the wires.....the only one hot is the one that goes from the 5th solenoid or end of solenoid pack to the F/R switch....Almost too hot to hold at end toward solenoids....all the other motor and battery wires are cool (no heat)

The hot wire and connection look good....should I replace that just to see or you think its something else.

Thanks
Bill

Just for grins do the same test once on each individual battery. Post what the standing voltage is and when you drive off (hopefully uphill) for each of the six. You may have one battery dropping a cell.

If we can establish good batteries, we can go on.

Hey scottyb......Well, I think I "may" have found the problem...I went to clean the only cable that was getting hot...(the one from the F/R switch to the #5 solenoid) and the stud pulled out of the solenoid itself...I will assume that is why it was getting hot and why I didn't have all voltage....?????????
Am I thinking right....
I will order one but want be for a few days....

Now I have another question....CAN I do away with the #5 solenoid and run on 4 until I get another one....Can I connect the F/R switch wire to the terminal on #4 that was on #5 and just disconnect the two little wires.....Will that work....will it mess up anything.....If you say it will work do I disconnect the resister for #5 solenoid...

Thanks scottyb and simple man

This is to test only! You can take the cable that the stud came out on and connect it to the other cable on that solenoid. You don't need to disconnect anything else. Try the cart ( it may take off at full speed ) and then disconnect the large cables again. I would not use the cart until you get the new solenoid.

Try checking the water levels in the battery's. it's always best to start simple work your way up.
