Unhappy Changed to 48v from 36v/charging problem

I have a 1993 club car, I just purchased it about 2 weeks ago. When I bought it it had 6 - 6 volt batteries, I changed it to 6 48 volt batteries. At first it ran fine but now it's doing things that I can't figure out? Last night I rode it about 10 mins. and on the way home it died (completely) to where I had to push it the last 10 yards or so. Frustrated I left it in barn not charging through the night. The next day I went to charge it and when I got on the cart it took off with pretty much full speed. Confused, help please? Also, when I'm running it at night you can see the head lights dim as I press the acceleration pedal. Does that help any? Someone please help!

Do I understand your post right?
You put six 8 volt batteries in your cart and charge with the 36v charger?
If no, me out here

You need to get 48 volts into those batteries, I hate to be the one to say it but you are killing those new batteries by undercharging and over draining them. The 48v pack should reach 63v under charge and a rested settled pack will read 50.9v full and is 50% drained at 48v, that is as low as they should go.

Secondly, your golf cart drive components will not handle the increased voltage for long without an upgrade.
