Hesitation Problems

I have an older Carryall II with a hesitation problem. When I start the cart (especially in cold weather) the cart just seems to turn over and it takes a long time for it to start running and stay running. I rebuilt/cleaned the carb, added the jet kit, I am getting about 150-155 psi compression and I have a new plug. When I press on the gas pedal it is terpermental. If I give it too much pedal the cart will not fire if I don't give it enough it won't fire. When the cart is warm I still get a little bit of a hesitation from a dead start. I think it may be a idle adjustment screw issue but I am not sure. Any suggestions?

I don't know..... CC gassers are real temperamental about their air/fuel mixture. The stock cart won't even start if you take the aircleaner off. So maybe that is your answer = maybe you are a little lean on the idle circuit. Try choking it off a bit.....if it starts better then that's your answer?

What was the jet kit, richer or leaner?

Check the valve adjustment. Sounds like it is a little loose.

Thanks all. I got the jet kit from cart parts plus and I think I have the screw set to the right setting but does anyone know what a good starting pint may be?

I kinda favor Early Times or Wild Turkey but a pint never seems to be enough.

start at 1 1/4 turn out...............

That'll slow him down ....... it takes 2 turns just to get the top off

Actually I keep reading his original post thinking he shouldn't have to rejet. A clean stock carb should work very well.

How about the basics?

CJ, Did you do a go chemical soak on the carb body when you did the rebuild? checked and or adjusted the float level.

Is the replaced jet a high or low speed jet? Your hesitation problem from a start would be a low speed circuit problem or a low float level issue.

Double checked that the air box and assy is sealed properly?

Checked for blocked fuel pick up tube, lines, filter, clean fuel pump?

Crash thats why I asked about richer, leaner, with out mods stock jetting is real close.
