Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
So what kind of grease are you using on the shaft? It does make sense to me as it is two pieces of metal against each other that do move.

Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
I'm going to have to disagree...
Dust, dirt will cause you more problems in the future if you use ANY type of lubricant on a CC clutch! This is just my opinion! Yeah... I follow the book, There MUST be a reason why CC doesn't require lube on their clutches! |

Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
I just use regular wheel bearing grease. Dont use alot, as it will "spider web" all over the place on the first startup

Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
Been doing it on Yamaha g1 and club cars since 1984 and never had a problem, clutches run smooth all the time. Just because its not in the book doesn't mean it shouldn't be. I go the extra mile and think outside the box, we all know the problem areas on golf cars, why not do something about it? if you follow the book, the problem areas on many cars will appear, but if you address those areas in your service...guess what? No problem. I think I read on here about lubing brake cables.....guess what? Big NO NO in the EZGO manual, but a few yeras back you had too because the cable was junk and would seize up. I'm just throwing the info out there, you can do with it what you want.

Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
I'm glad for you thinking outside the box!
All I know is, that if I used any kind of lubricant on my clutches at my dusty campground, I'd have major problems, and would have to replace them in a few years! Do what you gotta do BD... Good luck with your decision! |

Re: Rear driven clutch pulley 90 CCDS
Look BD...
It all depends on how, and where you use your cart, and what may, or may not happen in the future from the result of it. I may only have some 4 years experience "Playing" with Club Cars, and the only payment I get is, that the owner of the cart keeps my beer full! It's all about a running cart, and a happy owner! If you lubed the clutch shaft, or if you didn't... don't sweat it! As long as it's working, is all that counts! And you did it... all by yourself! Kudos! |
