Re: motor instructions
Hope this is what you needed it is for fe290
CYLINDER HEAD INSTALLATION A See General Warnings, Section 1, Page 1-1. 1. Installation is the reverse of removal. See Cylinder Head Removal on page 13-10. 2. Making sure that each push rod (5) is in place between the rocker arm (3) and the tappet (6) as shown, put the rocker shaft (2) into the posts through the rocker arm (3) and washer (4) (Figure 13-36, Page 13-19 and Figure 13-37, Page 13-19). 3. Slide the washer (4) against the exhaust rocker, and t the E-r ing (1) into the groove in the rocker shaft (2) (Figure 13-36, Page 13-19). 4. Install cylinder head assembly to engine. 5. Tighten the bolts down evenly by hand. 6. Using a torque wrench, tighten the six bolts in the sequence shown (Figure 13-38, Page 13-20). 7. Increase the torque in four increments of 50 in-lb (6 N·m) and then tighten to nal torque of 220 in-lb (25 N·m). See following CAUTION. CAUTION • Do not turn any one bolt down completely before tightening the others. Doing so may cause the cylinder head to warp. 8. Adjust valve clearances. Figure 13-36 Cylinder Head Assembly Figure 13-37 Cylinder Head Installation 1 4 2 5 3 2 6 13 A VALVE CLEARANCE CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT 1. Check and adjust clearance when the engine is cold. 2. Turn the crankshaft until the piston is at the top of the compression stroke. 3. Using a feeler gauge (1), measure the clearance (2) between the adjuster screw (3) and the top of the valve stem (4) (Figure 13-39, Page 13-21 and Figure 13-40, Page 13-21). 4. If necessary, loosen the lock nut (3) and turn the adjuster (6) up or down to adjust the clearance to 0.005 inch (0.127 mm) for both intake and exhaust (Figure 13-39, Page 13-21). 5. While keeping the adjuster from turning with the screw holder (5) (CCI P/N 1016413), tighten the lock nut (3) to 90 in-lb (10 N·m) (Figure 13-39, Page 13-21). 6. Recheck the clearance on both valves. Head torque sequence, 2:00, 8:00, 4;00, 10:00, 6:00, and 12:00 looking at the "OHV" on the valve cover as the center of the clock.

Re: motor instructions
Disassembly
1. Remove the retaining bolts from the rocker cover and remove the rocker cover together with the breather pipe. 2. Remove the rocker arm. Bring the piston to the top-dead-center of the compression stroke. This will allow the rocker arm to move freely (except FE350 and 400). On the FE120, 170, and 250, loosen the lock nut on the rocker arm pivot to remove the lock nut and the rocker arm pivot. Then, remove the rocker arm. On the FE290, 350, and 400, remove the E-ring, push the rocker shaft towards the exhaust side, and remove the washer and the rocker arm. 3. Remove the pushrods. NOTE Mark the pushrods to prevent the intake and exhaust positions from becoming interchanged during reassembly. This is not necessary on the FE350 and 400. 4. Loosen the cylinder head retaining bolts little by little, evenly in the reverse order of tightening, to remove the cylinder head. CAUTION The cylinder head could become warped if the head bolts are not loosened evenly. To ensure the proper loosening sequence, refer to the tightening sequence on the next page. Jimmie |

Re: motor instructions
I think those are head bolt numbers for the torque sequence!
(without the illustration to tell you which bolt is which) and I don't have the illustration, so I can't help much! but give Jimmie some time, he may post it! |

Re: motor instructions
That was not Jimmie, that was Papaw. I gave you the sequence as if looking at a clock. I will try and post a picture in a bit.
