How does the butterfly on the carburetor open? Is there supposed to be a spring
on the left side of my picture?

The older Ez-Gos'(pre-88') use a perforated tube inside of a steel-can.No baffles or packing. The best tuning I found with the stock exhaust was to increase the outlet pipe. Its very small, and by making it larger,it improves power. Also,if you have larger tires, shim the primary-clutch spring 3/16".It will greatly increase low-end power.Hope this helps.

Larger Diameter.I think they are around 5/8"(its' been a few years). You could go up one size, tack it on and try it,then go up again and try that.It will get a liitle louder as well, but that's the price you pay.Another way would be to match the outlet to the inlet, then use flat-washers as a restrictor-plate.Get some washers of different hole-sizes,tack weld one on,and go from there until you find the one that works best.Hope this helps.
