The part that usually causes the problem is the pawl assembly, which is actually bolted to the accelerator pedal. The pawl wears and rounds off on the edge so the cams on the brake wheel don’t catch on it. The two I have, I replaced the pawl assemblies and then took a dremel to the cams on the wheel and notched them flat so the pawl has a large positive engagement point on the wheel. They will just wear down again I’m sure, but for now they work quite well.
Called the brake lock mechanism

Since this is here no need to start another thread. Is the PAWL part you reference the metal piece that comes out of the part on the bottom left of the picture? Is there a video that you know of that shows how to replace this part or is it just kind of self explanatory? Taling about the entire pawl. My car a 2016 precedent is no longer catching the parking brake as well. I bought a few months ago and have done a few things like break pads and mcor. After replacing the MCOR the break pedal just didn't work right 100%.
