36v EZ GO no solinoid activation
Good day all. Having an issue with my EZGO. I believe its a 2005ish PDS. It has a Curtis controller box(the one with the RUN/TOW switch). so over the last couple months the cart was running good. then i began having what i thought was pedal problems.. the cart would stop moving and i was able to pump the pedal about 10 times and it was go again. that intermittent problem turned permanent and the cart no longer works. SO i been reading around the forum trying to solve the issue on my own. I think its the controller box. With batteries fully charged iv confirmed that my reed switch wire has 38v. all the wires i can trace back with the wiring diagram have 38v. Iv changed the solenoid already. Pedal pot reading .9v sitting and 2.9v at wide open throttle (WOT for you car guys). pedal box micro switch working correctly 38v when activated.i put the cart in diagnostic mode and am not getting an codes. only the 4 confirmation beeps. I want to confirm its the box before i go throw down $300ish for a new one. any suggestions here would be a huge help..gonna try to attach some pics.. i know that you forum guys love pics..

Re: 36v EZ GO no solinoid activation
Solenoid activation is a two step process with a PDS drive.
First you have the get B+ on the yellow wire via several switches and trips through the controller. Then the controller connects B- to the blue wire when it is told to by the pedal switch. (Drawing with B+ voltage paths highlighted attached) Check for B+ on yellow wire and for B+ on J4 Pin-1 when pedal is pressed. If you get B+ on the yellow wire and on J4 Pin-1 when pedal is pushed and the solenoid doesn't click, the controller is bad. Replace it with an Alltrax XCT48400-PDS. Much better controller and user programmable. Also attached is drawing with Pin-1 highlighted on all plugs. |

Re: 36v EZ GO no solinoid activation
thanks for the help JohnnieB. i do in fact have 38.6v to the J4 plug pin 1 wire.. however my wire in that position is green not yellow. So now to the fix the Alltrax XCT48400-PDS. this should be plug and go right?? or is there any programing involved?? do you recommend any specific place to buy it?? i see they're on ebay, amazon, and about every gold cart site on the net..

Re: 36v EZ GO no solinoid activation
Suggest you get it from a site sponsor. Competitive pricing, support after the sale if needed, and if you pick the right one and tell them about your cart and what you expect it to do, it will come pre programmed.
