Hello, this is my first post in this forum. I have a G-22 and want to remove the front and rear body to have painted, can anyone let me know if there are any tricks or tips? I have no clue where to even start. Thanks!!!

Re: Removing Yamaha G-22 body, any tips?
Welcome to the forum. I'm trying to remember. It's been a while since I pulled the body off a G16:
Two 13mm bolts in front for the top several 10mm nuts around the inside of the cowl trim pop off the cup holders 17mm for steering wheel two phillips for rear cowl side unscrew the choke has a clip on the inside of gear selector handle (like a window crank on a car) One 10 or 12mm nut holding on the selector to cowl in the center: under seat I'm pretty sure you have to loosen the selector cables too (10 or 12mm wrench) pull the panel off the rear cowl (trunk area), remove the bag holder (13 or 14mm) I'm sure I left out something, it's been a while, but that should be pretty close You can click on the YAMAHA link in sig and look it under the parts manual. It should give you an idea of how everything goes together. |

mwilliams. not sure about the G22 but most of the older Yammis are pretty simple. Check out the last sticky in the Yamaha gas section, Spriddles for Yamaha owners and parts manuals, go to your parts diagrams for the body and see if that helps you out. Very useful info too for future reference.......

Sprid, great minds think alike and at the same time! PS, ever put a G16 carb on a G9? Flint...

Never tried that. I would like to (one of these days) mix and match a G16 with a G9. G16 stock engines are monsters and the frame setup on a G9 is one of the best out there on a lifted cart (for stability and ride).

I'm watching a G16 Ebay engine now with just that idea, but don't tell anyone!
