That runaway speed is the reason why the 0-5kΩ setup was short lived, amazingly enough that system could not tell the difference between 5k and a "open line" so a broken wire in the throttle circuit put the controller in full speed.
Always raise one of the rear wheels off the ground during tests.
First make sure the new VGLide is wired properly.

Disconnect the quick terminals from Controller terminals #2 and #3 (#1 is the one closest to the top of the Controller).

Set Your meter for resistance (ohms) test, 20kΩ scale if the meter is not auto-range.

Place the meter probes on the two wires you disconnected from Controller terminals #2 and #3.

Put the FRN in Forward (key OFF).

Measure the resistance as you press press the accelerator pedal, the reading has to be 0 (not 0L which represents an open line) when you hear the micro-switch inside the VGlide "click".

The resistance should go up to more than 5kΩ when the pedal is all the way down.

Repeat the test above with the FNR in reverse to make sure the "reduced speed micro-switch" is wired properly.

The resistance should vary from when you hear the micro-switch in the VGlide "click" to approximately 2.6kΩ when the accelerator pedal is all the way down.

If the throttle reading is good, post the exact controller model number you got since a newer 3-wire controller wired with a 2-wire throttle will have the same symptom (full speed with any pedal position).

Thanks Sergio I was hoping to hear from you , the old controller is model # is 1204-408 36/48 which I though was bad the rebuilt one looks the Sam but said 24-36. Lots on the label but the golf cart store said it would work due to the fact it was rebuilt to handle 600 amps

Regardless of the current handling rating, a 36v controller will not last long in a 48v system since the parts inside the Controller are not rated for a 48v system.

Ok so I will try to exchange that controller then . I need a better meter to report back so really to only reason for this problem is the controller box ? Or could it be a loose wire somewhere ? I

I posted/replied back on a previous thread, I don't use my inbox.

If You get the correct values from the throttle test I posted, then the issue is either a bad controller or a good one that is setup for a 3-wire throttle which is by far the most common controller available on the Market.
