Re: Battery Dies
yes it was new. from a local used cart dealer. cost $52.00
is there a voltage reading at the generator I could get on a meter? if so which ones? if the generator was bad would the started work? I dont want to spend $200 bucks on a starter/generator and that not solve my problem |

Re: Battery Dies
Thanks Mike I'll do that.
Is there a way to test a voltage regulator? |

Re: Battery Dies
Sorry Scottyb, I did respond to your post (see #9) when i grounded the green wire (after disconnecting from regulator) I did not see any change in voltage at the battery.
do you know of any way of testing the regulator? the new one may be bad. But I'm not showing much coming from the generator. |

Re: Battery Dies
If you take a ground lead and connect to the generator green wire post ..... the generator will put out full power at midrange rpms. If it does showup in the battery immediately, then the regulator is bad....

Re: Battery Dies
do you disconnect the green wire from the generator? and ground the DF (green wire post) to the frame?

Re: Battery Dies
Yes disconnect it and run a jumper from battery neg to the terminal that the green wire was connected to ..... battery should reach up to 16v at high rpms

Re: Battery Dies
while I had the generator off I sanded the brushes to ruff them up, reinstalled the generator and the old regulator. I grounded the green wire and had 18.4 volts so the generator was good. plugged the green wire to the regulator and had no voltage increase at the battery. removed the old regulator and installed the new one (same one that I tried before) and had 14.55 volts at the battery.
THANKS SCOTTB AND MIKESMOTORTOYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP |
