Muffler question after rebuild
I just finished doing a top end rebuild on my 92 Marathon 3PG engine.
I'm now getting ready to reinstall it and reading the manual it tells me that there is some sort of insulation material under the muffler. Well, on mine there was and is none. When I got the cart the muffler was floating somewhat and I had to tie down one end to keep it from cracking the manifold again. The muffler shop fixed the cracked manifold and used a hanger to tie the muffler to the frame and muffler. Now as I install the engine I will use a band clamp of some sort to keep the floating end of the muffler tight to the frame under it. Here's the question. What is the material made of that is under the muffler. Is there something I can substitue that will serve the purpose? Thanks, Clem |
