No Headlights and Reverse Doesn't Work
Hello!
I recently attempted to install a radio into an electric EZGO. It's the type that has the Tow Switch under the seat and F/R toggle switch on the dash. Also has a DC/DC voltage converter and a nice little 12V hub with 6 spade-style terminals for easy access - just need a 15A fuse to make each terminal active. I installed the radio and read 13.6 VDC across my terminal and ground, so hooked up my power. Then I turned the ignition to on, and now the headlights don't work and the cart won't go into reverse. Everything else is fine. The reverse alarm comes on if you switch it into reverse with the ignition off, but not when it's 'on' or in the 'headlight' position. And the vehicle physically does not move in reverse, but forward works. I figured I blew a fuse or two but couldn't find a main fuse box/panel. My 15A terminal fuse is good. Any thoughts on what the issue might be and why it happened? I'm thinking my ground was bad... I just used a bolt into the frame/chassis. Are there fuses behind the dash and under the 'hood'? I haven't had the time to tear that apart yet. Thanks in advance for any responses. |

Re: No Headlights and Reverse Doesn't Work
Nothing on an electric cart gets grounded to the frame. All "ground" wires go directly to the battery negative post.
Fix that grounding problem and your reverse and lights will work. |

Re: No Headlights and Reverse Doesn't Work
Thanks for the reply. I actually did completely remove all of my wiring and terminations (including the ground wife) so everything is back to the way it was before I started the install and the problem is still there. No reverse and no headlights.

Check your fuse.
Also there is a reed switch in the charger receptacle that may have blown. This is a safety that disconnects the power when the charger is plugged in. Many have bypassed this switch. |

Re: No Headlights and Reverse Doesn't Work
I don't know if this will help or not, but some of the carts we have at work have an added relay for the lights. I have seen this fail quite often, and had to bypass it. You also might want to make sure you didn't knock something else loose or off during your install..
