Back fires
I have a 1997 Ezgo TXT gas cart. Some of you helped me before. I put a new carb. on, "Red Hawk Parts". It runs well, the problem is after 3-4 holes of golf it will back fire once and a while. I have done some reading about the micro switch and the throttle cable. When I press on the throttle, and hear a click it takes a while for the throttle to move. Do I need to adjust the cable tighter?

Re: Back fires
No it sounds like its adjusted correctly. The switch should actuate before the throttle begins to open. Maybe check the idle screw and ensure it is run all the way out. If not, it will hold the throttle slightly open and cause backfire. You can actually discard the idle screw completely if you like as the golf cart is not designed to idle. One other thing to check is your plugs. I have had them back fire from time to time simply because the plugs were fouling causing intermittent spark. If none of that works, I would say the new carb is rich.

Re: Back fires
I will try that. I am running a hotter plug, if that matters.

Re: Back fires
I have a club car pioneer with a 670 predator. I adjusted the idle jets so it idles now, but when I’m going down hill it back fires. I am going to try to readjust the idle jets. I’m assuming that in a down hill situation the driven clutch becomes the driver clutch and creates a situation causing a back fire. I didn’t notice it before I adjusted the jets. Any thoughts from anyone?

Why do you have two threads about the same thing?
