Re: New xct400pds
FWIW: With a 36V pack, a stock PDS motor will max out about 5600RPM, which is ~24MPH on 18" tires.
A 42V pack will up it to about 6500RPM (~28MPH) --- 17% increase in speed. I've never ran a stock PDS motor at 48V, but theoretically it ought to be about 7500RPM (~32.5MPH) --- 33% increase in speed. |

Re: New xct400pds
I feel 6K is on the conservative side of safe and 6.5K is safe.
I don't know what the recommended max RPM is for a stock PDS motor. What I've got is two different recommended max RPM for my D&D motor, 6k from Vic and 6.5k from Eric. (Maybe it was the other way around) I've seen both RPMs mentioned as max for other brand motors, so the 6k to 6.5k range ought to be okay for a stock PDS motor, if it is reasonably good condition. My stock PDS motor was near its maximum allowable case temperature and generating the maximum amount of regen current it could produce when the armature exploded, so I'm uncertain how much of a contributing factor the fact it was spinning over 8K at the time was. |

Re: New xct400pds
I'm sure gonna be content at 6G. I just finished up some throttle taming but my laptop is not playing nice with my memory stick.... pics later then.
Basically 80% throttle was an errant setting - I found 14% reasonable in golf mode and sharp enough in hunting mode. My goal was to make it where my wife could slowly drive through the barn isles with dogs in her lap and not startle anything, including herself... but if you press the gas more than half way it gets with it like I like. Mission accomplished - This control produces massive amounts of torque when compared to the 400 DCX in my other PDS. I ended my program changes having backed off the torque ramp up, the speed ramp up, and softening the throttle linearization. (sp?) Then I got on the 42v 400DCX cart and ran the same course... The XCT still had more torque even with slightly bad batts. I especially noticed how much easier it was to stop the cart coming down the steep incline with the XCT. Okay enough - program pics of my throttle program setting 36v. Throttle at 14% This is pretty basic. I chose to have one or few set points so it would be easy to replicate by somebody reading this. When the final adjustments are made I will save to file and offer these and other curves pre-installed. |

Well, she drove it. Puppy in her lap, no shoes, one hand on the wheel and said it was too fast. Somebody is gonna dump Gramma off the back. ... then after a few minutes she was goosing the midrange and going 'weeeee' . I never understand what they mean.

Re: New xct400pds
Wonder how she'll like it now I just got 7 new batteries to replace 6 old ones. The racks weren't too bad, after covering the new controller, a bit of scraping and spraying battery cleaner, rinse... and repeat a few times and she was ready for the seven CR220 6v. A new set of battery to battery cables was mandatory. Eventually the whole cart will get re-cabled as the build progresses. I'm charging and waiting for morning like it was Dec 24.
I love a new build. I'll get a hold down for batt #7. Everything fits rather civilized under the seat. I expect 26 to 28 mph and power to spare. |

Re: New xct400pds
If your tires are "Ecxactly" 18" tall and you have the Max RPM set to 6,000, with a 42V pack, you'll get 25.8 MPH and if you set it to 6,500, you'll get 28.0 MPH.
Looks like my motor is maxing out at 5708 RPM (23.26 MPH on my 17" tires) on level ground. But I've got some more tweaking to do. |

Re: New xct400pds
I'm looking at 20" tires. That 11% increase in height should get me to 28.6
