Default 1988 ds 36 volt very weak

Neighbor has a 1988 club car ds 36 volt, that she knew needed batteries when she bought it. It would run, but not far because of the bad batteries. It got really slow on the back of her 5 acres, and she barely made it back home. Wouldn’t move after that. Solenoid would click and try to move but couldn’t. Installed new batteries today and same thing, won’t move. Jacked it up and will turn tires forward with the switch in forward...and turn turn tires backwards with switch in reverse. Only getting 24 at the motor. Getting 38 volts at solenoid, mash the pedal and 38 on the other side going to the bottom of v-glide. This cart has the resisters, but no solenoids behind the batteries. I took the v-glide apart and cleaned the contacts including the wiper. They’re all making contact, but broke the micro- switch inside the v-glide box (if anybody knows where to get another one, local part houses can’t even cross the number). Cleaned all the resistors and contacts, they all looked good. Now wondering if the motor might have shorted being ran on low voltage, making it so weak. Would shortage windings pull the voltage down to 24 volts at the motor. First one of these older carts I’ve ever dealt with, any suggestions?

Make sure the vglide and throttle pedal are allowing for full travel and the vglide wiper is making it up to the top pad, when at that position the circuit bypasses all the resistors and you should have full pack voltage going to the motor. Check the wiring diagrams and I think the vglide micro switch triggers the selonoid and you could bypass that while testing and keeping the wheels off the ground. I would also check all the wires for heat damage and get a flashlight and see how the pads on the FnR lever look too.
