Stealth Edge Hybrid top speed limited by regenerative charging.
Hello everyone.
I'm new to carts but just bought a 2012 Stealth Edge Hybrid with only 19hrs on the clock. Now I'm working through the issues of a buggy that sat unused for 8 years. The documentation I have for this cart and the limited information I've been able to find online suggest that the Edge should have a top speed on gas of 25-28 mph. Using the GPS on my phone I'm getting exactly 15mph on electric and 16 mph on gas. The thing that I find odd is that when running on gas the "regen" light comes on at 15 mph. My guess is that this is the problem preventing me from reaching higher speeds. I suspect that the controller is set for a 15mph max and any overspeed it interprets as a downhill run and starts charging the battery using regenerative braking. The regen switch is in the off position. When the regen switch is on I'm doing good to get 8mph. Is this expected behavior? It feels to me that when running on gas the speed controller should just coast when overspeed. I am running 4 new T-1275 batteries and this issue is happening while fully charged. Let me know if there is any additional information I can provide. Thanks |
