Smallblock450sl posted this a while back for a G16........

Rod bolt torque is 14 ft lbs. Torque the 12mm head bolts to 19 ft lbs and the 14mm head bolts to 27 ft lbs. Torque the head bolts to 36 ft lbs.

Speaking of torque specs, does anyone have the values for the valve cover and the two nuts that hold the air intake onto the inlet side of the carb and the specs for all the bolts on the rear differential? What is the best way to make a new gasket for the rear diff cover after I change the oil?
We are working on a 1999 G16-AT.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Dale

Dale...I just tighten them Manual calls for valve cover bolts-8 ft lbs, intake nuts-5 ft lbs. I want to see your "minime" torque ratchet

Thank you all.

I broke down and purchased the "Shop Manual" for the cart(s) and am glad I did. What a wealth of info. I highly recommend getting one.

I found that Yamaha recommended a liquid gasket (Yamaha P/N = ACC-QUICK-GS-KT) for the rear differential cover seal. I contacted Permatex and the Rep told me of a new product they have "Gear Oil RTV Sealant". This is specially formulated for differentials and transfer cases. I will try to change the diff oil this weekend and let you know how it works.

The shop manual states a two stage torque sequence for tightening the differential screws. 14 ft-lb for the first stage and 18 ft-lb for the final stage. Tighten in sequence starting with a lower screw and then the one directy opposite it. Go back to a screw next to the first and up to the one directly across from that one. Follow this criss cross pattern for both stages in the torque sequence.

I hope this helps someone else.

Thanks again for the help, hope to let you know how the new product works soon.
