Default Starter problems

Why can’t my starter get over the compression stroke? Once it gets past the compression stroke it turns fine but it struggles to get over that compression.

Belts tight, maybe a little too tight.
Brushes are new.

Corroded cable(s) or ends or connections will rob starting amps needed to crank the starter.
Check all of your cables, positive and neg for issues, double check ground cables.

I learned the hard way... mine did that with a really tight belt, loosen the belt just a "tad"... just so it doesn't slip,
and also check the state of charge on your battery.

Today I got out my digital voltmeter. I put one lead on the positive battery terminal and the other on the white wire on the starter/generator. I then hit the go pedal and only saw a 1.5 volt drop. I then did the same thing on the battery negative post and the starter/generator ground side. Less than 1 volt drop there. So that looks good.

Have you had your battery load tested yet Sam?
You could just have a weak starter if everything else checks out.
I know it's off the wall but swaping the starter pulley with a smaller diameter one will help.

I checked the voltage on the battery when cranking and it doesn’t drop below 10V. I eve tried jumping it with the same results. It could be a bad starter even though it has new brushes.
