Lost screw inside engine, 88 marathon
I had a problem with the driven element (butterfly assembly) on the carb. It cracked in two pieves. I made a new one from a 8.8 metric bolt, tapered it, tapped it, and put it back together. Ran great. At some point one of the little screws that hold the butterfly onto the shaft backed out and went in the engine. The cart started to run very bad, I took the carb off and found the screw missing. At this point, I pulled out the spark plug which was very hard to remove. When I got it out, it had "extra" metal in the threads. I threaded another plug into the hole and it went in fine. My theory is that the screw just got pounded in the cylinder. Who know how much damage happened. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions before I put it back together and try it? |

*** THE LUCK !! sounds like something that would happen to me.
if you have the motor out i'd pull the jug off and take a look. i would think it had to do some damage to the cylinder walls sorry, Dew |

I think I am going to put it together and see if it runs, I have nothing to lose at this point.

Re: Lost screw inside engine, 88 marathon
Well, I replaced the screw in the butterfly (used some loctite), put it back together, fresh plug, and horray, clutch slips as bad as it used to..
But it runs! Hooray,, |
