Default 2002 Club Car continues to run

Can anyone offer any insight into why my cart continues to run after releasing the accelerator. A little more info: We turn the key on, put the cart in gear, hit the accelerator and the cart operates fine. When we release the pedal the engine continues to run. We have to either pull the plug wire or hold the choke in to kill the engine. Even turning off the switch dosen't help, the engine still runs. The only modification we have done to the cart is change the ignition switch. The switch went out a few months back and I replaced it with an aftermarket one purchased from Advance. It was only a three wire switch, not the four as the original. The cart worked fine for the first few weeks and then started with the run on. Will definately replace the switch with an original one, but not sure if it has anything to do with the problem. Thanks for any help.

sounds like the solenoid is stuck.........try tapping it see if cart shuts off but i would suggest starting with the solenoid and the micro switch that activates it....they are both in the black box under the seat.......................

Replace the switch with a stock CC one... and wire it properly!

If the solenoid was sticking or the micro was out of adjustment the engine would continue to turn over after you remove the plug wire.
Make sure the throttle plate is closing all of the way when you release the pedal.
