Racka cart with FJ 350 controller. temps question
I messed around with my Racka cart's programming this week. I have been trying to get it to have more regen braking at higher speeds and more torque on the low end. So far pretty successful. However yesterday my wife drove down the 2 miles to the mail box straight down hill (no need for brakes she could just 1 pedal it) then she came right back up and the cart overheated and went into limp mode. Didnt have enough power to get up our driveway so she parked it. I got home and it had cooled down but I found the historical alarm in the program so I know it was a heat issue. I messed around with the programming today and did the drive with no overheating issues. I gave it a bunch more low end torque (like 100 percent up to 3000 rpm) so that it doesnt slow to below 15 coming up the hill. I am hoping this keeps better air flow so it doesnt keep over heating. When I got home it was 117 degrees celcius on the motor and 83 on the drive unit (the alarm I that activated on my wife was set at 150 degrees).
My question is is that still too hot? Any ideas on how to further reduce temps. I drive this cart 4 miles every day. 2miles straight down hill and 2 miles straight and already have 150 miles on it. If I need to lower the torque and let it creep up the hill at 10 thats fine but I just wanted your guys opinion on which is better, a few more amps running through with better air flow or less amps for a longer time with less air flow. specifics: Racka cart 23 inch tires on 10.5 inch rims fj350 controller 48 volt architecture 6 8volt lead acid batteries |

I've no idea what a Racka cart is but, 23 inch tires are not good for hilly areas. You put a lot of stress on the motor/controller.

Seems to be another Chinese brand, not much info but, the 23" tires are stock, so the gear ratio should be probably adjusted.

Re: Racka cart with FJ 350 controller. temps question
the racka cart is made by TAO motor, sister company of Denago. the Racka RGC1 is the same cart as the TAO Champ4, Racka RGC1, Coleman GCEV4G-T, Gotraxx Guide 4 and a few others. They also just came out with a newer model- RGC2 which is basically same cart as the RGC1 but with some cosmetic changes and has lithium battery and 400a FJ controller.
