Default Green wire on 36 Volt harness

In taking a 36 volt cart to 48 volt does the green wire change location due to batteries being 8 volt and not 6 volt anymore?

You won't be able to use that green wire anymore if you are going to 8 volt batteries. That green wire is the positive and then the last batt Neg is the negative for a 12 volt circuit. (it's using 2 of the 6 volts).

You'll want to get a voltage reducer, which is great because it will draw off the enitre battery pack evenly, instead of an additional draw off 2 of your 6 batteries.

The voltage reducer will take 48v in, and then have 2 wires for 12v out. That 12v out pos will be your new "green wire".

Sounds good, i think I will install an extra 12 volt car battery for now just to get it up and going until I get the reducer in. I have plenty of room because of going from 8 to 6 batteries.

now, if you go to 8 x 6volt batteries, then you could continue to steel off 2 batteries, and be at 48v. You'll also have greater range with 8 x 6v as opposed to 6 x 8volt.

Just curious, but how do you have 8 batteries on your current setup?

Ok. I was reading the OP where you said you were going from 36v to 48v. My bad.

Thumbs up Re: Green wire on 36 Volt harness

You can use 2-8 volt batteries. Most cars charge the system to 16 volts when the alternator is running. It's not the best but it works and the lights will be nice and bright also.
