The rebuilt G9 runs like a champ! I don't post here a ton, b/c I use the search feature as most others have had the same problem as me. But I was able to tear my G9 engine down, bore it over, and put an oversized piston in it and put it back together thanks to all of you. Right now, with the governor nut turned all the way out, I get 17 mph GPS. Glad I rebuilt it, as along the way I found my sheave with the holes in it and found the valve clearances as .012 and .014 (I'm guessing this is partly why the engine was knocking)

How long do you think the break-in period should be before I turn my governor nut in?

Also, when I take the nut off the steering wheel, I haven't been able to pull the wheel off, can I pound on it a little or is there a trick? Thanks!

Next step: reupholster seats

from what i have heeaard take the nut loose leave it on and hit the back side of the steering wheel with a rubber mallet.. if u take the bolt all the way off when doin this u run a risk of the steering wheel flying free and smaackin u in the face

Sounds good, I'll try that tonight. I'll try not to hit myself in the face
