I have 2 problems here. My batteries are dead (from siting over a year) and don't know if the charger is working. Is there a way to check the 48 volt charger without plugging it to cart? And how can I get 36 volts in batteries to start charger when plugged in?

There are six 8 volt batteries. I have a 6 volt charger if I had to charge them individually. Would a 6 volt charger get them up high enough to get the 48 volt charger to work?

The voltage across all of the batteries.
Neg test led on the first neg post and the positive test lead on the positive post at the end of the pack.

I put a volt meter on the battery pack and it read 9.62 volts. Not completly dead but close. The 1st battery read 1.7 volts.
