Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
Very true Don but I didn't want to have to put my beer down and go turn the big red switch.
Seriously, I thought it out and wanted a no touch system that wouldn't leave us hanging because I forgot to check the switch, plus my parents use it (cause it's theirs) sometimes and he CRS worse than me. It has worked quite well so far. |

Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
Lots of good ideas here. I think running them in parallel will work for me. My stereo plays while the cart is running. I don't play it if the cart is not running. So I should be good there. I possibly will look into the whole double solenoid method crash is talking about so both get charged but audio and lights pull off the aux and the cart processes pull off the main.
Although I don't quite understand how to wire it from his explanation. Can you doodle up a diagram so I can see it more clearly? |

It's a little different for the boat but this is for any cart.

Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
Looks like while the cart is running the two batteries are in circuit. Great set up if you are running accessories while the cart is shut off. Nice drawing man. Picasso aint got nuthin on you!

Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
I think if I where you I would take the generator down to my local alternator shop and have it rewound for higher output. I had my stator rewound in my ATV for the use of additional lighting and my ATV computer. I have not had and issue with a drained battery. Hope this helps.

Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
I would just run then in parallel... positive to positive and negative to negative... You dont need to run big cable either as your not going to pull that much current. You will draw current from both batteries BUT the reserve capacity from the second battery can run the stereo with it the cart off and not worry about having a no start issue. Just buy a good battery that has a lot of reserve capacity or the biggest one you can mount in your cart.

Re: Best way to wire secondary battery
most all truck tech i have heard say that when you replace a battery on a diesel you have to do them all. they need to be the same exact battery. otherwise one won'tbe charged properly. also the weak battery will draw down the good one.same thing as a low battery in a sparkie. that 36v charger is kinda stupid, much like the generator.
